Inspired by its hilltop location surrounded by dense trees, Spruce V1 is a home designed to focus inward and upward, creating a sanctuary-like atmosphere. The concept is introverted, with a central courtyard as an upward focal point, reminiscent of the way nature pushes up through the layers of history on the site as it transitioned from farmland to overgrown land and back again.
The central courtyard connects all the spaces in the home, providing natural light to each room. The design prioritizes a budget-friendly approach, utilizing simple construction methods to create a warm and inviting living environment, with unique powerful moments in key areas of the form.
